About Me
Heather earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Sam Houston State University, and her master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Southwest Texas State University. She is also a Certified Academic Language Therapist, a Licensed Dyslexia Therapist, and certified to teach Pre-k through 6th grade. She has 31 years of experience at Austin Independent School District schools teaching Pre-k, 1st, and 2nd grades, and as a Reading Specialist, a Dyslexia Interventionist, and a CALT/ LDT.
Heather is excited to work with the staff at Capitol School in a small school learning environment, and to continue with her passion of helping struggling readers and students with dyslexia through small groups and individual instruction.
In her free time, Heather enjoys gardening, playing golf, going to pilates, and traveling. She has been married to Ron for 26 years and has two boys, Ian, who is a senior at Texas State University, and Aidan who is a sophomore at the University of Texas. She also has a little shitzu named Butterscotch!
