Capitol School of Austin believes that small class sizes and a highly qualified staff of speech-language therapists and special educators make us a unique and highly successful program. Maintaining this standard of quality is impossible through tuition alone. It has been through the continuous support from community supporters that CSA has been able to help more than 850 children find their voice.
At CSA, “every penny counts” isn’t just something we say, it is a mantra we live by. Any donation, large or small, will go towards supporting programs, scholarships, campus improvement, technology, or other special projects. We manage all fundraising activities ourselves, so 100% of your donation will go directly to support the children at Capitol School of Austin.
Making a donation is as easy as sending a check to Capitol School of Austin or donating by credit card by clicking on the button below.
CSA’s Annual Grandparents/VIP Celebration looked a little different in 2020 due to the pandemic. Grandparents and VIPS were invited to Zoom into the classrooms to see what their grandchildren love about CSA. The students absolutely loved connecting with their special guests!
CSA uses the celebration to kick off our Annual Grandparents Challenge for current and previous grandparents to help cover any deficit in CSA’s operating expenses for the year.
Amplify Austin: Give back to the city you love
Amplify Austin is Austin’s 24 hours of giving. Your generosity inspires us! Thank you for giving back on Amplify Austin Day 2021 and for taking part in Central Texas’ biggest day of giving. The need to continue giving to the nonprofit community is even more critical now during this uncertain time.
Annual CSA Fundraiser
CSA’s Annual Fundraiser is an ever-changing theme. In the past, CSA has thrown a casino night, a wine tasting, a murder mystery night and Trivia Night—these events always culminate in a silent auction with items donated from Friends of Capitol School as well as local businesses that support CSA and its mission.
This year, Capitol School of Austin hosted a “Starry Starry Night” event on April 1, 2021. The event was held outdoor on the spacious lawn at Mercury Hall and included music from the very talented, Tylor Brandon. Food from Penninger Barbecue and P. Terry’s was served and Tiny Pies donated the desserts for the evening. The weather was perfect and everyone seemed to enjoy the evening. Thank you to all who attended and/or donated to the Starry Starry Night event.
Giving Tuesday & End-of-Year Giving
As the end-of-year season approaches and people turn their thoughts to giving and supporting the causes close to their hearts, CSA asks that Capitol School may be included in that list. The End-of-Year Campaign kicks off on Giving Tuesday, the Tuesday following Thanksgiving.
Including CSA in any giving enables the school to continue helping families struggling with learning differences. When asked about what their time at CSA means to them, the overwhelming response from parents is that CSA gives them hope. Hope that their child will better communicate, that he/she will use language to make friends, will reach his/her potential, and will succeed both at CSA and in future school settings.
Although tuition at CSA is in line with other low-ratio, non-profit schools for children with special needs, the school recognizes that many families cannot afford the program. For this reason, there is an established tuition assistance program administered by the CSA Board of Directors.
The program is designed for families who earn below Austin-area median incomes. Awards up to 50% of tuition and are based on three criteria:
A family’s financial situation, including income and cash assets
The needs of other families applying for assistance
The amount of funds available for tuition assistance (since the tuition assistance program is funded by private donations and varies from year to year)
Scholarships are partially funded through the CSA endowment fund, which is funded by private donations, foundation support, or a percentage of the CSA yearly operating budget, whenever possible. This is a major area of need of the school. To donate to our scholarship program, click on the Give Now button above and indicate “Scholarship Fund” on the memo line.
